Tart gooseberry and soft peach on the nose. Gooseberries and fruit to taste, before an intense bitterness that’s as sharp as a macaw’s screech!

Halt pint, cask by handpump at Malt and Hops. Loose bubbly, beige head. Cloudy amber coloured body. Fresh citrus aroma, grapefruit up front. Joint taste profile of grapefruit, peach and pineapple followed by a smooth bitterness of citrus peels. Refreshing and tasty (Leith 11.08.2013).

Bottle 4.8@angle. Golden coppery, filtered. Nice grapefruity hoppy nose with scottish- like nutty caramel. Lightish body, bitter dry. Earthy hops, english caramel. Quite good, pretty close to my ideal english strong bitter: Has the english earthy hops, nutty caramel, but still slightly grapefruity, uplifting.

Pale golden pour with a thin white head. The aroma has a lovely fruity character with notes of earth and a bit of herbal character. Fairly assertive bitterness with a bit of pine character. Very light citrus and a touch of pepper. Decent - but pretty simple pale ale.

Bottle from Waitrose. I normally like Oakham’s beers, and this was no exception. Bright amber in colour, fruity hoppy nose. Summer fruits and a lingering bitterness. Great level of carbonation - not too fizzy. Cracking beer. Must buy more.

Clear, dull amber pour with a yellowish head of average disposition, that sticks around for a goodly amount of time. Pineapple and other tropical fruit dominate the nose with a wet caramel back. Could be more intense. Medium body with a nice mouthfeel and light bitterness in the finish. Slightly tart tropical flavours.

Bottle from Waitrose. Copper coloured, thin white head. Aroma of ripe raspberries. Then it goes a bit downhill. Taste is bitter, burnt caramel. Overly sweet. Not my thing really.
