3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, poured into tulip glass. Dark gold to amber, decent white head. Very fruity, but hard to pick apart - more tart than sweet. On warming, some straw. Taste is tart fruit, then a powerful bitterness. Very lingering. This is exactly as bitter as I find beers can go before it becomes unpleasant (to me, at least). Thoroughly lovely.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle. Clear, deep golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally grainy aroma, fruity hints of gooseberry. Taste is initially minimally grainy, fruity hints of gooseberry, a touch of peach, more and more bitter hoppy middle part, later again more fruity with subtle sweetness, some peach; bitter, minimally chalky finish. Nice, diversified development of taste, soft palate, matching carbonation. Really nice.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 4.8%. Dull golden body, medium head. Aroma has sweet melon and pineapple. Taste has melon and creamy peaches. Too pale and fruity just like the other two Oakham beers I tried. I wanted a beer not a tropical cocktail.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask @ Blue Stoops Chesterfield. My least favourite of the Oakham range,by some distance. Golden coloured and visually fine but far too heavy on the citrus and just too bitter for my taste. I struggle to see why so many people rate this so highly. Had two pints and the second was a real struggle to finish. Somehow the balance just isn,t right.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Pours copper with small frothy white head. Aroma is spicy malt and subtle tangy gooseberry. Very old-age golden ale fare. Taste is predominantly bitter with some bready malt and small amount of orange up front. Bitterness although not harsh is incredibly invasive dominating the flavor profile. Has the standard golden ale light and watery body - which I am not keen on. To be honest it reminded me why I don’t drink Real Ale.
