COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Tart gooseberry and soft peach on the nose. Gooseberries and fruit to taste, before an intense bitterness that’s as sharp as a macaw’s screech!

Sharp nose with gooseberry, lychee and fresh lemon juice. Pours a burnished copper with a fluffy head and very strong lace. Flavour is richly citric with some candy notes, a lot of mango and papaya, some grapefruit rind toasted in honey and a strong underpinning sprucey bitterness. A hint of earth in there as well. Finish is more bitterness, long, dry and very very moreish. Excellent.

Big melon sorbet nose, pale clear yellow body with tinge of red and a slight white crust of a head. Smack of a fruit medley and a very crisp hop rinse. Very sweet midrange and a Wham Bar fruit and neat dry drag of a bitter biscuit finish. Slight lemon curd tinge on the linger.

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a big frothy head. The aroma is grassy and hoppy. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, with a huge hoppy bitter, slightly floral palate. The bitterness in the aftertaste is so strong and there is almost liqourice there. It’s nice to see some strong hoppy bitterness for a change rather than bitterness derived from alcohol. I’m sure this ale will be very popular.

A dark golden to copper coloured beer with a strong aroma of citrus and gooseberry, which erupts into a fruity bitter on touching the tongue. The strength is well masked by the hoppy flavours that are consistent will all of Oakham’s beers. I has a good white head which lasts until the end. The flavours develop into a dry but refreshing bitterness that leaves you wanting another a must try beer and a great addition to the bottled selection!

Bottle from Cotteridge; clear copper pour with thin white head, zesty citrus aroma, quite hoppy peachy taste. Really crisp refreshing could have a session on this.

Bottle from Cott. Nose as described above. Then a little soap with the gooseberries. I think my experience of soap with out of date Arbors has done damage to my palate, I always detect the soap these days. Ah well. Least I have less of a potty mouth. Looks like it won’t be Tom after all. What did I do wrong? It can’t be about me. Though, the previous sentence simply doesn’t read right.

Pint at the Nags Head in Reading. Light orange-amber, with a fair bubbly head. Bitter, well hopped, dry but decent. Fair citrus/grapefruit aroma. A bit zesty, goes down well.
