Tart gooseberry and soft peach on the nose. Gooseberries and fruit to taste, before an intense bitterness thatís as sharp as a macawís screech!

A new golden rake @ Magpie : nice pungent hoppy nose. Tropical fruit. Golden colour (no shit) A dry palate with that zesty hop shit thatís aromatic and chill. Almost Apa in character.

The aroma of wood from the hops. A little thin and bitter taste. Tastes much English despite there being used amarillo and summer hops.

It stuns me that people donít rate this beer. On cask it has a wonderful velvet mouthfeel that instantly lets you know the brewer cares. It is packed with aroma hops giving tropical fruits, peaches and gooseberry; it is perfectly bitter and has a solid pale malt backbone. One of the ten best sub 5% beers in the world.

Cask at The Mermaid, St Albans on 12 Jan 2013. Poured a bright amber, with a thin, off-white head. Great aroma of juicy hops, lychee, passion fruit and some grassy notes. Flavour was a mix of tropical fruit, bitter waxy hop and biscuity malt. Finish was marmalade, grapefruit and grain.

Bottle at home from B&M Watford. Clear golden colour with a loose off white head. Slight haze. Aroma is composed of mellow citrus fruits, peach, light caramel malt sweetness. English yeast esters and berry on the nose as well. Flavour is initially straw and slightly caramel malt sweet and then sharp citrus grapefruit and lemon rind. Finish has an assertive rough straw and grapefruit bitterness. Medium palate, mid sweet and crisp in the finish, medium carbonation. Really bit hop hit in this beer. Very refreshing and perfect for this fine summerís eve.
