Tart gooseberry and soft peach on the nose. Gooseberries and fruit to taste, before an intense bitterness that’s as sharp as a macaw’s screech!

From bottle, golden orange colour, with bubbly , long lasting head. Gentle fruity aroma . Lovely dry , hoppy taste very refreshing, great harsh bitter finish, making it very, very easy drinking.

At just on cool and into a snifter. Bright and shimmering; a deep amber, still in appearance and donned by a messy, inch of frothy off-white foam that daubs a thick lace. Well there is gooseberry and peach on the nose, as is hints of green peppercorn, fresh baked Anzac biscuit, leafy green herbs, lemon peel and nettles. Palate has a candyish quality with a piercing floral backend. Quite tart and tight managing to hold juicy and sour fruit against spicy herbs, flower petals, toasted malts and a touch of burnt sugar. All is a little muddled but comes together in the finish where there is a whiff of smoke. Body is light but it sits heavy in the stomach so one was enough. Didn’t quite get into this one. (50cL, 4.8% ABV, BB 30/09/15, Luckies Liquor, East Vic. Park)

Cask at the Draper’s Arms, Peterborough. Golden-amber with a thick white head. Grapefruit and tropical fruits up front with some flowers and a touch of pine following. Plenty of hops here, but still a good balance of sweet malt against the bitterness. Very tasty, very drinkable, very more-ish. Oakham do make this sort of beer very well indeed.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Golden colour, off white head. Nose is light fruity, dish cloth, bit sour. Flavour is light malty, light fruity, low bitterness, a bit juicy. Ok.

Pint at the Bon Accord. Big hit of bitter hops, not floral or fruity. Light, fresh body, long bitter finish. Excellent

A very decent and well hopped ale. Juicy malts with a typical US hops bite to it. Bitterness isn’t overwhelming neither long but just right. Refreshing and easy to drink but without holes. A beer I might actually come back to for long summertime evenings or BBQ.

Pours light brown haze colour with creamy white head. Aroma without notes of an alcohol, prevails notes of tropical fruits. Similar is taste, with discrete hidden note of an alcohol: firstly fruity sweet with bitter slight dry finish. Malt sweetness is medium, hop bitterness also. Very proper beer.

Cask @ The Queens Arms , Brixham , Devon. LOw Boost GOLD tim. And this is not bad within this stupid genre . Vibrant hops in the nose , fruity , especially peaches up front , sugary lemons . As golden as the gold Jesus piece Kanye West wears when he is singing about God and ’motherfucken gay fish’ . The flavours are nice and again suggesting peach, grapefruit , biscuty malt and a long dry finish ! I dunno , not fucken bad for a Golden fucken ale !
