Cask; Seasonal - December until it runs out. Has appeared at other times of year. Also available bottle conditioned.
Strong, dark and rich, yet surprisingly drinkable for a beer of its strength. A substantial beer that should be treated with caution!

Cask@Ealing Beer On Broadway. Nice full and full bodied, with sweet chocolate and caramel flavours. It is on the sweeter side, but a nice hit of warming (but not overpwering) alcohol in the finish helps to balance it out. I thought this was a great beer.

Bottle at AshtonMcCobb’s. Pours clear red brown with a thin white head. Aromas of dark sugar, herbs. Taste is sweet, some chocolate. Sweet finish.

Gravity fresh @ Pig's Ear Festival, East London. Murky red brown. Raspberry and banana aroma. Soft mouthfeel going toward watery. Like watered down marmite. Wet vanishing finish with some soapy notes. Spiesy reckons I down-rated this because I had it immediately after the No. 1 Barley Wine - I reckon he's just sore because he can't tell the difference between a masterpiece and an average strong ale!

Bottled. Thanks omhper. Dark ruby colour. Med.sized head. Slight roasty with raw/industrial malt feel, also stalky. Grassy, sweet caramel, stalky and with almond paste. Too much stalk here. Medium bitter.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep amber to brown. Nice lacy head. Nose - toffee going into floral honey, Taste - honey and cereal. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly balanced finish. Overall - struggling to criticise but also not getting excited, particularly.

Cask @ Ealing BF 06: Dark brown body with a rich dried fruit taste didn’t notice the alcohol but it helped the beer.

(Bottle, thanks omhper) Pours deep dark red. Light roasted aroma with some coffee, caramel and a subtile fruityness. Undertones of flowers, fudge and stone. Full malty, medium sweet flavour with some allmond paste and a touch of fruits. Medium bitter finish. Rather smooth, medium body.

Mungo (2471) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - JAN 23, 2006
BCA (from Bottles of Botley, BBE Aug 07). Very lightly conditioned. Mahogany coloured. Lots of rich and well balanced flavours. Light chocolate and cold coffee, brown sugar, malts and faint raisin aromas. The bare minimum of hops and a not quite sweet taste not cloying and pleasantly sippable.

Spiesy (2338) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - DEC 5, 2003
Gravity @ the Pigs Ear, London , 2003.
Crystal clear, rich, smooth, brown. Malt and alcohol blended nicely. This was drunk at the start of a session at SilkT’s insistence with the Museum, No. 1, barley wine. I wisely tried this first so as not to unnecessarily bias my palate. Probably not as good as its pier but lovely all the same. Strong long palate.
