Cask; Seasonal - December until it runs out. Has appeared at other times of year. Also available bottle conditioned.
Strong, dark and rich, yet surprisingly drinkable for a beer of its strength. A substantial beer that should be treated with caution!

Mungo (2470) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - JAN 23, 2006
BCA (from Bottles of Botley, BBE Aug 07). Very lightly conditioned. Mahogany coloured. Lots of rich and well balanced flavours. Light chocolate and cold coffee, brown sugar, malts and faint raisin aromas. The bare minimum of hops and a not quite sweet taste not cloying and pleasantly sippable.

Gravity @ the Pigs Ear, London , 2003.
Crystal clear, rich, smooth, brown. Malt and alcohol blended nicely. This was drunk at the start of a session at SilkT’s insistence with the Museum, No. 1, barley wine. I wisely tried this first so as not to unnecessarily bias my palate. Probably not as good as its pier but lovely all the same. Strong long palate.

Cask Conditioned at Ealing Beer on Broadway Festival, 2006. We had this and two milds on the table and they all were fairly similar, the alcohol in this was very well hidden and this didn’t seem an awful lot stronger but did have more body. Dark malts and lots of caramel, but not very interesting.

Cask @ Ealing BF 06: Dark dark ruby brown with a short tan head. Nutty malts, lovely dry choc and raisins. Nice darker fruits and warming full bodied feel. Tasty stuff.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2015 550ml: A nice winter warmer ,considering its early spring .-this should be redundant ,but its cold . Dark malt nose , raisins , coffee,chocolate . Deep brown beer , beige head . Flavours and palates suggesting chocolate notes, dark malt flava , caramel , red wine , raisins ... I bet this would lift from cask in the middle of winter .. From the bottle in May its decent stuff !

diabel (1680) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - SEP 2, 2009
Bottle Hazy, deep black bod. Lightly brown, creamy head. Aroma of coffee, liquor, molasses, chocolate: very nice and complex. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour.

Cask @ The Harp 7/8/11. Pours a dark brown, with no real head. Quite roasty, toffee, slight bitterness, but quite boozy. Seemed a bit out of season.
