hughie (2412), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Oct 27, 2008 Cask, gravity, at Wellington Arms Winter Festival of Ale. Dark gold. Underarm malt aroma. Lots of hoppiness, and none of the citric taste promised in the tasting notes. Didn’t really like this. imdownthepub (4247), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Oct 21, 2007 Cask conditioned at The Hobgoblin, Reading, Berks. Gold with lime hue, white head. Pleasing dry bitter beer with good crisp hops and a tangy, grapefruit fruitiness. Very enjoyable in a cracking pub. Oh joy. harrisoni (5474), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 30, 2007 Cask gravity at St Albans BF 2007. Copper colour with lasting beige head. A little caramel/butter on aroma. Settles down to a slightly watery bitter, bit of tingly hop on end. Greenish hop grows on the finish, leaving the impression of having sucked on a hop flower. On the whole, very enjoyable with fresh hop drying finish. duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Mar 16, 2007 Cask@St Albans BF. This was a very nice, flavoursome bitter. Some subtley sweet caramelly malt flavours come through, and then finishes of with some nice juicy, citric, floral hop notes. Really well balanced between the hop and malt, and showing a good amount of flavour at the same time. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England Oct 9, 2006 Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans beer Festival, September 2006. Amber colour. Clean and fresh, with a light floral aroma and plenty of hop presence on the palate. Restrained bitterness keeps it on the straight and narrow. A decent brew.
