Bottle at home. Pours a clear, light bronze colour with a thin head. Pungent aroma of skunky hop, malt and floral orange. Taste is very bitter. Lots of flavour: sweet juicy malt, more orange marmalade and a dry, herbal bitterness. The label suggests aniseed and I do not disagree. Long, rich finish, ending dry. A great beer on lots of levels and recommended.

JDW, Southampton - Admiral. Lovely citric flavours in a malt full of character. If all hoppy beers had such a great malt base it would make all the difference. Bags of flavours, baby of character, lovely drop to drink.

Cask at the Michael Bacon JDW, blond with a fine white head anda citrus hoppy nose. Powerfully dry-bitter on the palate, yet with an earthy note and an underlying maltiness, itís almost like an English take on an American IPA.
