Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 1st July 2010. Almost black with thin off-white head. Rich malts and slight notes of coffee and vanilla - almost like a mild version of Milton Nero. Zingy mouthfeel and highly quaffable. Very well kept in the pub.

Cask - Market Porter, London. Poured a dark brown with a fine, beige coloured head leaving a watery lacing. Smoke, roasted malts and some dried fruit on the aroma. Dark, sweet/sour fruits, some choc and a dry mid-dark malt bitterness. Soft palate texture, light to medium body with just a hint of carbonation and a mid-length finish.

Cask conditioned handpump Evening Star Brighton. A black beer with a good bubbly beige head. An excellent smoky roasty mild with chocolate licorice and fossil fuel flavours together with a little sweetness. A very competent and tasty mild.

Coarse dark beige froth covers only half the beer. Just barely translucent dark red body. Earthy fruity chocolatey aroma with wooden hoppy notes. Dry-sweetish earthy dusty cocoa taste with fruity notes. Mild mouthfeel. Light body. Dryish earthy wooden resiny aftertaste. Quite nice. Not too pleased with chocolate/fruit clash, but still a good beer. (0.5l bottle, RealAle.com.)

Cask, from the Central Southern Bar at GBBF 09. Jet black body carrying a few floaters on the surface. Mild roasted malty aroma. Vaguely taste of roasted, dark malts. Semi-sweet impression. Not bad for a British mild (Earls Court, London 05.08.2009).
