3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Half pint gravity fed at the Battersea Beer Fest, dark ruby with an off-white frothy head. A sweet caramal aroma - very warming. Very smooth in the mouth - goes down easily. Subtle caramal in the flavour with a nice bitter finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
BCA (from Bitter Virtue, BBE Aug 06). Coffee and chocolate roasty notes with fruity (blackberry?) qualities. Quite dry with a fruity acidity - leads to a slight clash with sweeter choc flavours.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[Cask at GBBF 2005] An almost opaque red-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of roasted malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel. A lovely mild.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very dark and almost opaque. Some coffee notes in the aroma. Mainly fruity, but quite full bodied. Some ashy character. Smooth and easy drinking. Cask (gravity dispense), Reading Beer Festival, April 2005.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at Babington Arms (JDW) Mild Festival. Another wonderfully fresh tasting mild, juicy stuff, fruits outdid the roasts but it was still a convincing pint.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask@Reading BF. Classy mild. Light roasted malt and chcolate flavours, subtle as it should be, but really well balanced. Roasty, with a surprisingly long finish.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JUN 18, 2005 Black with a beige head. Ashy tar aroma. Taste is similar, some roast but quite chalky. A bit unbalanced for me. Re-Rate: Light roast flavour, a little chalky. Bit unrefined, but still a nice mild. Previously 3/3/5/3/8

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2005 GBBF, London (August 04). Sampled with chris_o. Ruby brown, teeny head. Clean, caramel flavour. Slightly insistent, tangy crispbread finish. Bar-b-q aroma. Good stuff (3.2). RE-RATE at Reading beer fest (30/4/05) almost the same comments as above, though in comparison with other Milds sampled today, I’d move the mouthfeel score up one notch, otherwise it’s as you were. This is indeed very quaffable. (3.3)
