Bottle:   Deep dirty caramel, a little brownish, moderate sudsy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Hefty grainy malt like aroma.   Slightly earthy.   I can already tell its not my style.   Has an organic like
flair when I take my first sip, earthy, soily, with the maltiness taking a backseat.   Mild sweetness, make that slight sweetness.   Needs more caramel malt like sweetness to counteract the earthy/soily graininess.   As it
warms the earthy/soily aspect becomes more prominant, further pushing me away.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Certainly feels heavy enough, not thin, but just isnt my type of maltiness.   Having Mac & Jacks
African Amber made only a few miles away has me spoiled.   This one is okay, but the graininess of the earthen/soil like malts just makes me want to put it down.

A: The beer pours an amber color with a finger of off-white head.
S: There’s a nice perfume and floral hop aroma to this. Behind that, there is sweet toffee and caramel malt. A bit of toasted bread, some hints of citrus peel, too.
T: The beer is mostly sweet with a good amount of toffee and toasted malt/bread flavor. A nice bit of perfumey hops, some good floral notes, and just a mild citrus flavor. A decent hop bitterness to the beer as well.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
O: Pretty standard red ale, but good flavors and easy to put down a glass or two of.
