UPDATED: SEP 29, 2013 On tap @ Super Deli Mart. Pours watery dark black with a thin head. Aroma is roasted malts, maybe burnt a bit. Taste is dark malt, again a little over roasted. Some pumpkin spice flavor but really no pumpkin. That’s what you’d get with the better Elysian pumpkin efforts like Dark o’ the Moon. Also lacking the smooth and rich body you might expect from an imperial porter. Not bad, and I like Oakshire a lot, but this is a tough style to master. Revisiting a year later. Body seems a little heavier. Overly roasted, burnt notes still dominate. Definitely some dark cocoa flavor, but does seem a stretch to call this a chocolate porter. And again, some pumpkin spice but lacking the richer pumpkin taste found in others.

Tastes like an average porter. The appearance is quite nice. Thin whispy head with a motor oil black body. Back to the taste though, I didn’t get much chocolate or pumpkin flavor out of this one. It’s really a decent beer, good even but the title was misleading to me. I expected a bit more. One I might try again but nothing too memorable.

At Uber in Seattle Pours dark with about a finger of off white head. Black. Some larger bubbles remain for the course of the beer. Nice lacing. Smells strongly of pumpkin and spices. Not much from the porter comes out. Taste was no surprise; rich and creamy pumpkin with a hint of smokiness and and chocolate. A bit of a bitter finish. Palate was a reasonably carbonated, creamy, but a bit watery. Overall, this is right up there with Dark’O’the’Moon, but not as full bodied. Very good take on it though, a great blend.

Tap @ The Hop & Vine... Poured jet black with a moderate head. Nose had some toasted grains and pumpkin squash tones. Loads of dark chocolate with spices and fleshy pumpkin flavors. Could definitely get ginger especially towards the end. Quite pleasant, very smooth with hints roasted malts and ash.

Draft at ncbc. Pours black with loose tan fisheyes around the edge. Big dark chocolate and pie spice nose. Watery body, a bit flat. Roasty dark chocolate and pie spice mid palate. Long ashy finish.

Tap at 16 Tons. Dark brown pour with light hints of red and a coffee colored head that lasted for a while. Big aroma of cinnamon, chocolate, ginger, nutmeg and a lot less pumpkin than I expected. Flavor much the same, with the spices and chocolate dominating and the pumpkin playing a small supporting role. This one is more reminiscent of pumpkin pie spices than actual pumpkin, which is honestly how I prefer my "pumpkin" beers. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
