3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
"Tap at PDX Green Dragon. Pretty standard barleywine (in a good way) before the barrel. Strong on both malt and hops, though with the extra aging, the malt and the brandy win out. Good job with not overdoing the brandy and oak."

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
750, corked and baled. Pours a rich dark ebony with a dense and creamy tan head that lasts and lasts and lasts. Big peaty chocolatey nose, showing oak as well. Creamy thick body, almost sticky, lively carb. Peat and chocolate and brown bread and nuts and cola knocking around the mid palate, along with some soft vanilla and oak counterpoint. Very, very nice.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Had also had on draft in April 2013 when Oakshire Public House opened. Pours a dark brown, fairly cloudy little to no head. Aroma sharp, brandy forward, dark fruit, oak, really nice. Body thick, rich, full, with a lingering brandy flavor. Something a bit sharp about it, too, could be brandy, maybe not, but the bottle is tasting surprisingly less mellow than I remember the draft being. A good beer, but not amazing.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at the Holiday Ale Festival, listed as Oakshire Brandywine. Pours a dark copper color with a medium beige head. A sweet brandy nose, some toffee and dark candies. The flavor is more heat, a bit of sweet dry malts, rum cake, light oxidation. Marmalade. Quite good. Unusual.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours very darkly ruddy with a light tan head. Aroma is cinnamon!?! Full bodied. A little heat. Flavor is brown sugar, winy grape, brandy, oak, and once again cinnamon. Or is that a combo of brown sugar and chocolate? Great stuff. Has sort of a brandy burn.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draught at Roscoe’s. Really bold fruit flavor, especially apple notes. The aging mellows out the hoppiness.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich deep brownis pour, well hazed. Dark with a frothy tannnis head. Aromas are apple brandy, oak, vanilla, gentle spirit. Oak, vanilla, toffee and toast, some sweetness. Initial is smooth medium bodied, a firm apple brandy sweetness, touches of apple. Middle is apple, toffee, gentle spice. Some gentle sweetness. Backend and finish offers tannoic oak, vanilla, apple. Really nice, settles a bit. Tasty, a bit hot, big Apple Brandy influence that gives some good flavors but interferes on the palate a bit with integration.
