Pour at What the Funk 2014. Pours a golden color with white head. Funky, wine, tropical fruit, dough aromas and flavors. Not bad.

Bretty funk, tropical pineapple, apple, clove, stonefruit, tangerine, oak forward. Mild acidity, slight sweet, finishes nice. I like it, it is very intriguing and takes a while to dissect.

Golden slightly hazy almost no white foam, fleeting head. Sweet slightly rosy acetic nose, sour apples, tannic wood, cherries, clove, earthiness. Medium heft, appreciably acidic, like a basque cider. I Nteresting blend.

What the Funk, Denver, October 2014. Pours a golden orange appearance with a tan head. A bit vinous and just a bit tannic / woody. Some pineapple, funk, and tropical fruits. Kind of refreshing. Alright.

Bottle at home with my wife. Pour is golden-orange with a small white head decent lacing. Biscuity, light brett, lemony, honey, grassy, and floral aroma. Taste is lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, dough, cracker, mango, brett, and grass with a lightly tart finish. Light body with soft carbonation. Not bad but could definitely benefit from more carbonation and less residual sweetness.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong funk, yeast, fruit. Thin mouthfeel with nice fruit and light funk and sourness. Very good.

On tap at Saraveza, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma of dry pinot noir, dry farmhouse notes, and fruity esters. Flavour is similar, with notes of dry wine notes, funky farmhouse notes, and more dry wine. Super dry and vinous. Very well-balanced, with super dry finish. Excellent.

Draft on tap at The Publican (Chicago, IL). Pre-FoBAB Oregon Brewers Event. Pours a well hazed darker golden amber hue, some darker body, crisp haze and big cakey offwhite head sits atop, a big egggshell white with good stick around, nice lacing. Large cakey layer remains. Some gentle orange amber glow, a bit dulled overall. Aromas present distinct funkiness, brett and cobwebs meet some pineapple, gentle bready malt and touches of yogurt. Some subtle wine barrel, gentle red wine, subtle tannic quality. Vanilla, a bit woody, touches. Of sweeter dough, bread, grainy malts. Some gentle banana, estery fruit. Touches of firm funk, mellow sourness dance in and out. Initial is medium bodied, a bit lighter showing some nice creamy carbonation, rounded body of dough, yogurt. Spritzy and tart pineapple meet subtle crab apple sourness, touches of pear, funky brett and cobwebs. Gentle bready malts, subtle estery fruit sweetness grows. A bit more dry, brett driven as we hit the middle, some funky cobwebs, basment, subtle oak starts to grow. Tart and funky. Backend shows funk, brett, a touch of grainy stickiness. Gentle oak, vanilla, the barrel displays a bit more prominently as we round up. Gentl breet, dryness, and touches of yogurt. The sourness is more tart, the funk akes off nicelyt though. Finish is dry, a bit funky, the brett grows with gentle red wine, a bit depleted, tannic and vanilla, some decent funk, mellow sweetness, pineapple linger. Nice stuff. It’s not full blown wild, the Rosalere yeast is a bit tart, the funky brett takes on some nice life overall. Gentle barrel. Solid and fairly complex, mixing an array of elements.

tap offering @ fobab. soured lemon acidity. malt backing comes across as a wheated cracker bohemian pilsner dough. some odd old barn funk offered was not so great, but overall not too bad.
