3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Deli Mart, August 2012, and advertised as 9.3% ABV, so maybe not the 2011 vintage. Hazy golden-orange. Hoppy aroma: slightly sweet, slightly fruity, along with a bit of caramel. Flavor was piney, with caramel sweetness, some ripe fruit, and moderate bitterness. Not quite a typical DIPA, exhibiting some hoppy barley wine qualities.

Hop Vice is a very strong brew. It’s a hardcore IPA fans dream. My nightmare.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Bier Stein. Hazy golden pour with a big white head and lots of sticky lacing. Lots of citrus hops present in both nose and mouth, primarily grapefruit but also orange, lemon zest, some apricot, minimal caramel malt backing. A little thinner than I would like, but still a tasty beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
For some reason the slight haze to this robust yellow body work; the head is white, thin & modest. Aroma gives both resin and lemon-citrus channel, with distant apricot. Light in the mouth but still a strong presence. Flavors gets right to the edge of grapefruit rind harsh, but as the mouth numbs and caramel with black pepper flavor comes through. almost harsh finish. On tap at Saraveza.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Bailey’s Taproom in Portland, OR. I suspect this was the 2011, as it is not quite like the 2010, but it was not listed as such nor can I confirm that, so here we go.... colour... cloudy gold with a thin off-white head. Nose... hops that have been dragged across the ground at the hop field (I mean that in the best of ways!). Palate... dirty, dusty hops with dried apricots, peaches, lemon zest and a prickly, dry hop resin that puts my, "nuggets" in a vice and clamps down tight for the night. Lights out!
