Hazy amber with no head. Nose is buttery, toffee. Smooth flavor, toffee, medium body and low carb. This seems to have lost its sweetness and thinned out, maybe past its prime.

Oakshire hellshire. 22oz bottle suplied and shared by Todd at beer mongers... Pours a mostly transparent lighter toffee hue and topped with a thin wispy light beige head... Toasted malt, a touch of coconut, and a semi-sharp bourbon note. Assertive and somewhatabrasive... Flavors are pretty sharp and boozy with deeper charred bourbon bent which hits upfront and finishes on a larger bitter emphasis that totally detracts away from its experience.
Thinner bodied overall. Touch too hot, well maybe more than a touch. This one certainly needs time to settle down a bit.

(bottle shared at Dak’s 5000 tasting). Pours a cloudy copper with thin off-white head.. Aroma has lots of wood, booze, caramel and some band-aid. Taste is sweet with some whiskey. Its still quite hot. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. OK, but I didn’t love it and there were so many great beers that day.

A: The pour is a cloudy amber color with pretty minimal head formation.
S: Smells really good. Lots of bourbon, vanilla, oak right away, giving a huge barrel presence. The barleywine aromas of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and dark fruits are evident and impressive as well.
T: The flavor just really falls short. Toffee, nut shells, and wood dominate the flavor. There is a bit of vanilla and some mild bourbon, but the oak and booze are just overpowering. It really lacks refinement, cohesion, and balance.
M: The body is medium with low to medium carbonation.
O: A really nice nose but the flavor was disappointing.

HUGE thanks to Nate for this... medium brown with light tan head, not much to looking at... nose is typical ba bw, mostly malty, caramel with lots of bourbon on the finish... the taste just really isn’t that good, TONS of oak, pheynol alcohol, bitter chemical finish, just really not that good... I probably wouldn’t have this again unless its free, don’t give up much for this at all

Bomber from Alan. Cloudy orange copper with a tan creamy head. Huge alcohol aroma with prunes, oak, smoke, coconut, vanilla (sorta reminds me off malibu rum). low carbonation, full body, lots of alcohol, quite sweet and hot.

On tap at Brouwer’s Hard Liver ’12. Pours a dark cola brown, with a big, dark tan head. Moldy fruit on the nose. Yuck. Skunky hops blend with what would otherwise have been a good barley wine, throwing it far off track. I wasn’t a fan of this one.

pour is a murky dirty copper brown with a tight beige head and fair amount of lace. The nose is actually a rough, notes of bourbon and some cardboard. Rather malty, chocolate and toffee and some stale hop, very messy. Taste is heavy malt, roast and chocolate, notes of bourbon but light. Almost no heat, very little balance. Full bodied, a touch chalky, light carbonation. The malts are overpowering and unpleasant.
