Take a little gnome home this winter! However, don’t put him in the front yard. The neighbors might steal him & he’ll definitely lose his cool! He’s a malty, hoppy brown ale of pure winter deliciousness. Enjoy and Happy Holidays! ABV: 6.8% / IBUs: 65 / OG: 15.5° Plato

22oz bottle shared by DuffManSW. Rating #16. Murky dark brown pour with a light tan head. Odd aroma, light caramel and a little chocolate, but there’s something else I can’t put my finger on. Roasty dark chocolate flavor with a little bitterness in the end, not bad. (1199)

On tap pours dark brown with a smooth beige head. Nicely hopped up brown ale. Thin bodied, nutty flavor, soft caramel, citrus floral hop finish. I didn’t really care for this on the first sip, but this really grew on me thoughout the pint.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2012 After sampling a bunch of Oakshire’s brews, this was my favorite. It is brand new, ready to ship for the Winter season. I think they had just tapped it before I showed up at the brewery. As fresh as it gets.

22oz bomber from the Roths market close to my apartment in Salem. Nice looking beer againhazelnut brown with a very nice looking cream coloured head. The aroma however is rather more subdued than i imagined it would be mainlly biscuity malts..rather odd as i did not chill this at all.oh well. Taste is better thankfully full of toffee, caramel, roasty maltiness with a delicious hop bite at the end to finish it off with a bit of spice. Nice palate to this one, quite silky and thick. Overall another intresting and good beer from a smaller Oregon brewery.

Draught. Poured red black with thin fast dissipating head. Aroma is hop citrus, toffee and smoke. Medium to light body. More toffee and sweet malt. Lasting finish, with enough hop to keep from being sicky sweet.

Chestnut red. Thick and powdery in texture. A surpringly hard hit of bitterness in this nutty beer. Some toffee roastiness. A long chocolatey finish and hints of dried fruit. S’OK.

22oz bottle from Luke. Pours a slightly opaque mahogany with small off-white head that recedes to nothing quickly. Aroma is heavily roasted malts with plenty of coffee and a touch of smoke. Also a nice toasted nut character with some green hops though, admittedly, they’ve probably faded quite a bit. The taste follows the nose with the massive roasted coffee and green hop bitterness up front. There is some sweet malts and molasses in the background. The finish is bitter and toasty. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation. This is a heavily roasted beer, not sure how I’d categorize it, but it"s definitely tasty. Probably not as good as fresh though.
