A nice wooden barrel scent comes to the forefront at first sniff. Lots of dark goodness in here, all blended seamlessly. Pours dark brown/ruby with creamy beige head and sticky lacing. Taste is smooth, rich, slightly spicy, roast grains, toffee, peat, pipe tobacco. Nice gingerbread lingering on the palate afterwards. Really nice!

22 bomber, brown pour with a finger of head. Malty all the way through with a tinge of spice. The malts overpower the hops in this one, hard to tell if they are even in there. Still pretty good overall.

From the 650 ml. bottle. It pours mahogany brown to medium amber with a long lasting mocha head. Aroma of malts, coffee, salt, cream, and vague fruit. Interesting. The body is medium and creamy in texture. The taste is more malty than anything else with a kind of cellar and cardboard quality.

Delicious winter ale. Always look forward to the gnome’s release. Oakshire makes some darn good beers.

On tap at Orenco Taphouse. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium tan head. A light chocolate nose, some caramel and light spices. A nice mix of fruity hop bitterness, dry chocolate and sweet caramel malts. This is a solid brew.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel, toasted nuts), lightly hoppy (apricot, grapefruit), with a light note of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Pleasant if somewhat simple malty nose. Decent enough balance, maybe a little sharply bitter at the very end. Forgettable but reasonably solid.

Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of cocoa, carmel, nuttiness, earthiness and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness and light earthiness with a smooth lingering carmel finish.
