Bomber. Appearance is a crimson highlighted, extremely dark brown color with a substantial layer of tan head. The aroma blends dark chocolate and citrus with floral hops. The taste is similar with lots of roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and espresso notes intermingled with grapefruit and herbal hops flavors. The body has some creaminess to it in addition to strong carbonation. It finishes slightly burnt, bitter and smoky. For the most part, it’s a fairly smooth and even blend of a Stout with an IPA.

Pours a very rich brown with a small tan head. Nose is rich roasted malts and light piney hops, Medium body and smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is well balanced between malts and hops, and there is a solid bitterness with light citrus notes as it moves on to the finish. This emerging styles is challenging a lot of brewer but this one is spot on in my estimation..

Murky brown with a sweet, chocolaty nose. Smooth, lightly carbonated and soft on the palate. Lots of smooth roast, dark chocolate, tar and sweet milk. Hop aromas are pleasant yet subdued. Hop flavors are moderately bitter, green, grassy and piney. Delicious CDA.

Nice look into the CDA from Oakshire. Quite roasted up in the front, slight burnt toast almost. Thick, darker, fruity malts swirl into the middle, giving off notes of caramel candy to a certain extent. Finish brings out a well done grapefruit filled pine heaven, that lingers for a decent amount of time. Not as full as some CDA’s, but big flavors and they work well together!

Draft at CDA at Fizz. This was one of my favorites of the afternoon. Pours a deep brown-black with a tan head. Nose is light cocoa and piney hops, Really reminds me a lot of Alpha Klaus. Very nice nose combining the roast and the hops. On taste, more of the same. Firm bitterness, piney hop flavors. Not much citrus, which works well. The roast lends more of the chocolate notes that work so nicely in this context. A really great beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber from Northwest Liquid Gold. Dark brown pour rather than pitch black, body flecked with sediment so that it almost looks powdery. Oily legs rather than sticky retention from the medium creamy head. Nose is more bitter and a bit smoky than the citrus I usually expect from the style. Roasted malts definitely outweigh the hops here, making this a bit off the mean in terms of style. Competent and flavorful but not the gold standard.
