Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, charcoal, pine resin, earthiness and dankness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, earthiness, charcoal, pine and light grapefruit with a smooth dry bitter lingering roasty finish.

Black-bodied and decent head. Emanating a pleasant blend of medium dark roastiness that is not too rough and PNW hops with a moderate pine and citrus influence. Right on for the style. Nice flares of roast and hops that work a wonderful synergy on the palate. Balanced and tasty.

Bomber. Deep. earthy hops in aroma, becomes quite piney when swirled. Dark translucent brown. Dirt and coffee initial / very rich roast malt in mid / buttery, malty finish. Medium body. A very substantial, meaty, dark, and dirty BIPA. Very good.

Really thick, almost Guinness type head. Malty toasted flavor with a sharp hop bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from 16 Tons, Eugene. Pours dark, semi-opaque. Light head, aroma rich and malty, toasty and just a little bit resinous. Medium body, finish is roasty at first and surprisingly long and resinous. Really opens up as the beer warms. A very subtle example of the style in terms of IBU and ABV, but not too shabby overall.

More emphasis on the black, less on the IPA. A nice drink, regardless. Good deep roasted malt with a lively but bitter finish. Mmmm

22 oz. from Central Market. I’m not sure I get the whole fascination with black IPAs. They rarely ever seem to do justice to either side of the equation. This is a perfectly serviceable CDA, but I suppose not my cup o’ tea.

Out of the bottle. Pours black with a coarse white head which I wasn’t expecting. Smell is a nice balance of roasted malts and hops. Taste starts hoppy and finishes with a nice roasted flavor. The bitter flavor of the malts linger on the tongue, which isn’t my favorite, but it isn’t enough to make me not enjoy the beer. This is a great CDA.
