Gray skies are a regular part of life in Western Oregon. Overcast Espresso Stout is the dark and silky stout we crave while giving us the shot of organic espresso we need. IBUs: 37 / OG: 14.5° Plato

Dark brown, rich chocolate nose with subtle espresso character. Rich mocha character with a great three-way balance between chocolate, coffee and earthy bittering hop. Medium body for this type of beer despite the sweetness. Quite an accomplished example.

Easily the best daily-drinker stout I have ever had and I have had my share. Perfect malt-to hop ratio for a stout with the strong but not overwhelming chocolatey malt winning out. Aroma is strong dark espresso, roasty burn bread but not nearly as potent as a Guiness. Nice thick body with a crema head that lasts for a long time. Taste is roasty chocolate malts, strong but not stinging coffee and some light sweetness. Finishes nice and and smooth.

Bottle. Pours a near black color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is roasty and slightly bitter with only a little bit of coffee to it. Taste is heavily coffee laden with a fair amount of chocolate coming through. Could easily be had at Starbucks.

Brown black with a half inch of dense tan head. Aroma is sweet, with rich roasty chocolate and coffee. Taste is the same, and just as rich. $2/12oz

16oz pour at Jack Rose DC. Pours a murky black with some creamy, beige head. Nose is crackery, toast, coffee bean, brown sugar, a little molasses. Flavor is really nice, malty, toasty, nutty, fairly heavy coffee, brown sugar, a little dried blueberry. Dry finish. Another nice one.

Black inky pour with a thin khaki ring around the glass. Lovely nose of dark earthy espresso and sweet chocolatey tones and a mild bitter roast note. The flavor is a bit smokey and acrid but otherwise enjoyable. Lots of earthy fresh roasted coffee and semisweet chocolate. Just has that old coffee acrid tone on the finish that I’m not fond of.

In the can @ home, distributed to Colorado for CBC. Pours a deep brown appearance with a big, fluffy dark brown head. Green coffee beans, dark chocolate, heavy earth, and vanilla in the nose. Somewhat creamy, but heavy mouth feel. Quite roasty and burnt coffee. Fairly bitter. Kind of tasty, but not one of my favorites for for the style.

Dark black. Smells like espresso. Tastes like watered espresso. Nothing great. ... kinda light for a stout.

What I like about this sweet stout is that the sweetness is balanced by the coffee and bitterness. The body is not too heavy, but it still has plenty of silky smoothness that feels nice on the palate. Oh, and there is plenty of coffee aroma and taste in here!

Pour out of 12 oz can, dark black pour with tan head, laces well. Aroma brought notes of rich dark fruit, espresso bean, berry, hints of roast, coffee, chocolate, hints of grain, spice in there, slight vanilla as well. Taste is a mix of espresso, roast, coffee, earthy notes into a bit of toffee, slight bitter earthy notes, some slight cocoa, finishing fairly bitter, dry. Very refreshing, easy to drink.
