4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: black, with amber highlights and half a finger of dense, creamy medium tan head and generous rings of lace . Aroma; smells really good--smooth milk and dark chocolates, vanilla, cream, a bit of toasted bread, with roasted espresso beans. Taste: dry, roasty coffee, bittersweet chocolate, oreo cookie pie crust, crème anglaise. Finish: smooth, slightly dry, with lingering bittersweet chocolate and black coffee. Notes: Wonderful. I love coffee stouts, but hate the ones that have an overpowering acidity from all the coffee. This was perfectly balanced. Smooth, sweet, roasty, with chocolate, cream, and espresso in perfect balance. Outstanding example of the style.

3/28/13. Sampled during CBC 2013. Black pour with a small tan head. Rich coffee aroma, espresso of course, with touches of chocolate and cream. Lots of coffee in the flavor as well, some roast and chocolate, hints of vanilla and cream. Not bad.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dry stout. Aroma is coffee. Good oatmeal stout malty flavors, with a hint of chocolate, and bitter coffee moreso. Good mouthfeel for such a low ABV stout, and quite silky and smooth. Could benefit from some sweetness -- unusual for oatmeal stouts in my experience. B.
