22oz Bottle. The pour was a thick jet black with a huge (3-4 finger) tan foamy head that lasted throughout, reducing to a large cap with excellent sheets of foamy lacing. The aroma was of a roasted cereal malt and a strong leathery yeast with notes of dark chocolate, molasses, dark roast coffee, vanilla and a hint of oats. The taste was lightly sweet, a tad bitter and very malty with a healthy dose of dark chocolate and molasses from the start, progressing with a strong bitter dark roasted coffee taste and a silky oat feel towards the end. The flavor lasted a good long while following the swallow, with a bold espresso taste fading very slowly from the taste buds. Mouthfeel was exceptionally full in body with a dry, oily texture and a medium carbonation. Overall this was one solid tasting Stout with a great balance of flavors, which ultimately created a smooth and tasty brew with a superb drinkability…

Can from the Grapevine in Pocatello. Pours a mahogany color with a nice bubbly, brown head. The aroma seemed to have a touch of something like cinnamon spice in addition to the light coffee notes. Gentle, balanced flavor that has enough malt to keep the coffee in check. Nice.

Location: 12 oz can from Winooski Beverage, 8/14/15

Aroma: The aroma is heavy roast and coffee, some burnt notes, and a bit of green vegetable
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a thin light brown head and spotty lace
Flavor: It tastes of burnt coffee, that green vegetable, and a dry coffee bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, leaning lighter, average-to-lively carbonation, decently dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a pretty good espresso stout. Nice roasted coffee flavor. Good balance between the light sweetness and the slightly higher bitterness. Works as an easy drinking canned stout for those who want a bit more roast in their camping/pool beer drinking. Doesn’t have to be overcast of drink this on a sunnier day too.

Growler from Albertsons. Pours out black / brown with small silky head. Coffee is first element in the aroma, some burnt toast as well. Coffee than takes over the flavor. Medium weight body, slick and creamy.

Can at 19th hole in Portland. Nose is sugary and coffee. Thick and dark and smooth. Some caramel hints and smoked molasses too. Decent and would do again. Too sweet to keep ordering though.

Can into glass. Rich black color, some brown hints when you hold it up to the light. Big foamy espress-colored head. Nose is rich dark chocolate, espresso, a little vanilla bean. Taste is spot-on, with big mocha, chocolate flavors. Frothy, creamy texture. Stupid good.

12 oz. can poured into a snifter. Transparent deep brown, almost black. Medium khaki head. Thick collar. Lots of coffee on the nose. Earthy and rich coffee. Nutty malts. More acidic coffee taste. Strong coffee. Nutty without being sweet. Strong roasty finish. Medium light. Well carbonated. Nice beer, but unexciting.
