The Perfect Storm Double IPA celebrates the rich traditions of brewing in the Northwest. The perfect storm of six different hop varieties combine to create a substantial ale with a clean finish. A proprietary blend of regional and European barley malts balance the hop bitterness while allowing the hop flavors to dominate.

650 ml bottle @ Kick. Unclear orange body with a rather small but good locking, lacing off-white head. Nice citric fruity aroma with lots of malt as well with caramel. Flavor is sweet pale malt, citric fruit and good bitterness. Well balanced pleasant body and long lasting aftertaste with smooth malt and pleasant bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden, just as a warming feeling in the aftertaste. Not really complex, pretty straight forward, but very smooth and well made. Nice one.

22oz bomber. The deScription says 10% ABV but the bottle says 8.7% ABV. Pours a hazy peach with a moderate head and good lacing. Nose is fruit, pine and earth with a hint of grass and yeast. Taste starts out sweet, evolves into malt and finally graduates to a complex bitterness. The whole mixture of nose, taste and finish is exceptional and hides the alcohol very well.

651 ml. bottle. ABV 8.7%. Vintage 2015. Pours a medium, well retained, ivory head, with moderate lacing, over a hazy, particle laden, amber (SRM 9) body.....nose is heavy hops with pine resin, citrus peel, herbal notes, light grass, hints of allium, moderate cereal malts, no esters, balance to the hops.....taste is slightly sweet, with light cereal malts, mild pine, resin, citrus peel, floral notes, light licorice, finishing with a moderate hop bitterness.....mouth feel, medium body, sticky, pleasant alcohol warmth, slight astringency, medium carbonation. This is obviously a different recipe than the original with the lower ABV. It is a pleasant beer with a somewhat muted malt backbone. It is appropriately dominated by the complex hop bill. Bottle, 22oz. At Både &. Vintage 2015. A hazy golden beer with a small off-white head. Piney, resiny aroma indicating a dry, bitter mouthful. Not much malts in the aroma, nor in the flavor. Rather bitter, lightly warming and dry on the palate, full bodied and nicely carbonated, with flavors of piney and resiny hops. Some pale malt notes in the far back of the swallow. A delicious beer indeed. 150821

Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. This pours a bright honey orange and has a nice fluffy orange tinted head. Big fruit and rich malts in the aroma. Flavor, too. This is big and burly. Bottle says ABV is 8.7%. Tangerine leads the flavor with oranges, pine, and citrus. Gobs of hop flavors. Some grapefruit made a brief appearance and perhaps some zest. Complex is a well earned description. Sometimes this was a big classic west coast IPA and sometimes it took off in a different direction. All of those things were good for me. I liked this one.
