The Perfect Storm Double IPA celebrates the rich traditions of brewing in the Northwest. The perfect storm of six different hop varieties combine to create a substantial ale with a clean finish. A proprietary blend of regional and European barley malts balance the hop bitterness while allowing the hop flavors to dominate.

Bomber. Appearance is a hazy rusted orange and gold color with a half-inch of off-white foam. Strong floral hops and tropical fruit in the aroma with a bit of caramel. The flavor starts out with aggressive vegetal hops bitterness leading to some pineapple, grapefruit, mint and caramel malt notes. Also a noticeable alcohol burn toward the end. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with moderate carbonation and more leafy bitterness and citrus in the finish. Tasty but a tad boozy and bitter at times.

From notes. Tasted on 6/30/12 at the 1st Annual Chimipalooza, from bottle. Pours clear orange with a thick white head that slowly recedes to thick, even lace. The nose is citrus and kids’ vitamin hops with a bit of bread malt and lightly earthy yeast. The flavor has a bit more malt, but is the same citrus and kids’ vitamin hops from the nose. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long bitter hops finish.

"Wonderfully hoppy and bitter. Solid aroma, body and flavor. Citrus, dank hops, more than ample ibis with the fruitiness and flavor to back it up. Very nice."

Aroma: hop dominant, piney resinous and grapefruit. Light graham cracker maltiness and faint apple-pear ester in background. No DMS, diacety, hot alc detected. Appearance: pale straw, moderate expected haze, thin creamy white head that disipates rapidly. Minimal lacing and legs. Flavor: strong bitterness and hop flavor up front that is similar to aroma (piney, resinous, grapefruit flesh and pith) way in the background is light cracker maltiness, fruity esters, and very pleasant alcohol. Mouthfeel: Well carbonated, very frothy foamy on the tongue. Medium bodied like an APA. Finish is dry clean and refreshing. No astringency or alcohol heat. Overall: One of the more drinkable IIPAs available. Doesn’t seem 9.3% as advertised. Well balanced after the initial hop blast. Maybe a bit lacking in complexity. Hop aroma, while dominate compared to malt and esters, is overall on the low side for what west coast IPA fans would expect these days.

Good but less than impressive double IPA. Normal orange/copper color, small foamy off white head. Funky, musty hop aroma. Taste is barley, caramel, and hops. It doesn’t quite come together though, not quite a perfect storm....

A great DIPA from the master coast of IPA’s! Oakshire made a delicious beer that has a great combination and amounts of hops!

The dank train is pulling up at your station. What do you do? Toss ’er in to ya ya dummies! Oakshire is a pretty damn solid brewery and this kingly quaff is no exception. An alcohol laced storm that pours light ochre-orange with a white froth that laces better than your sneakers. Powerful alcohol is mostly masked by bold citrus, juicy, floral hops and some yummy straw and cereal malts. Pepe Le Pew is present but not egregiously so. Soft, creamy and medium bodied goodness but not bestness.

22 oz bottle at Bier 30. Smelled great, looked great... and then nothing. Pretty average Imperial IPA, with nothing spectacular standing out. Not one that I will try again.

22Oz Bottle at Bier:Thirty, Boise as part of their Oskar Blues tap takeover. Hazy apricot pour with a thin ring. Fruity sweet malt aroma. LIght bodied and lacking real big hop flavor. Not much fresh hop flavor. Just OK. Was expecting a bit more from Oakshire

Very strong, very delightfully flavored. Other than the price tag, this is a must-have beer.

Big and bold hoppy goodness right here. Golden and hoppy as ever, but could be a bit thicker. Definitely a good choice and not excessively overpriced. Dank though!
