On tap at Bailey’s Taproom’s Third Anniversary Barrel Aged Fest. Pours out a amber with some red highlights topped with a small sand head. Aroma was nice a good citrus hop along with some sweet caramel. Taste was more of the citrus and caramel along with some spice.

12 oz bottle from Matt Van Wyk. As always, I really appreciate it. Settled down for a movie with the Mrs, continuing my celebration of Barrel Aged Weekend! Pours a darker brownish hue, glowing orange red sunset edges, a decent murkiness, but light still glows around the edges, some bloody red body. A decent tannish frothy head sits atop, dies to a decent ring, laces small. Aromas are a combination of wet oak, vanilla, toffee and sweet biscuits, some touches of red wine, orange marmalade, and deadened hops with a touch of oxidation. Mellow and inviting, touches of dry fruits. Initial is medium bodied, bringing up toffee and toast, biscuits and decent oaky vanilla and wet wood, although lighter. Touch of dark fruit. A more mellow red wine feel in the finish, lighter on the tannins. Instead, we’ve got some floral hops hanging on. More pinot on the nose, decent oak, decent bitter finish. A bit forgetful, lost in itself. But still tasty, some nice elements, warming. The tannins start hitting me more, the barrel is just enough, not overdone, bitter. Nice job, Matt

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at Bailey’s third anniversary party. Brown with a small head. Hoppy aroma with some caramel and wine barrel touches. Bitter and hoppy flavor with light caramel sweetness and subtly barrel character. Full bodied with medium carbonation. A bit sharp. A little too bitter right now, and the malt suffers because of it. The barrel aging doesn’t seem to be doing too much.

Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom’s Third Anniversary Barrel Aged Fest... Poured dark ruby with a khaki head. Caramel, malts, vanilla tones with plump fruit notes. Also juniper, and a heavy, boozy bitterness.

Light brown in color. Many bourbon notes. Cannot detect where the Pinot barrel comes in. No alcohol burn though. By the fire at night beer.

Tap at the Bier Stein in Eugene.
Dark pour, hazy and with a nice head, certainly intriguing in appearance. Strong, chewy malts topped with an even more powerful wine barrel character, both the oak and tannins readily apparent. Rich, over the top flavors, enjoyable but not necessarily drinkable. Nonetheless, different and interesting. I hope Oakshire makes their way up to WA state at some point.
