COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Look out! Someone in the brewhouse broke the Ill-tempered gnome’s little red cap. Now he’s very ill-tempered. To placate him, the brewers have cranked their hoppy brown ale up to 11! Well, 9.5 at least. Look for a complex malt profile balanced by a blast of flavorful and aromatic American hops, all woven together with a blanket of warming alcohol. This winter warmer is sure to soften the grumpy little guy!

Nose of dark malt, toast, roast, brown bread, a little dark fruit and very strong hop presence - floral earthy, danky. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Big bitterness throughout, toasted brown bread, roast, a little dark fruit, lingering chewy hop resins, danky, and floral. A little alcohol, dry chewy finish. Solid american strong. Oh, tenth rate, lock this bitch in, what.

On tap at the brewery. Nice clear brown pour with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet malt, earthy hops, a bit of spiciness. Flavor is warm. A bit alcoholic. Some sweet malt notes with a decent hop bitter kick. I’m not sure why, but I’m struck by the wateriness of many of Oakshire’s beers. I wish it had just a bit more body.

Dark brownish amber in color, clear with a thin head. Tons of flavor malts and hops. Loved the finish this was a big big beer.

Draft at sb. Man, these guys always nail the special releases. Pours a murky dark amber with a huge dense and creamy tan moussy head that lasts all the way to the bottom of the mug. Big sweet caramel and molasses and brown sugar and gingerbread nose. All those come back for the mid palate. Dense creamy body with that awesome holiday cookie flavor profile. Long sweet mildly cookie-spiced finish.

Draught. Moderate brown pour with solid tan head and lacing. Immediately greeted with a surprisingly intense hop aroma, mostly citrus with some pepper and then the caramel hops in the background. There is a mild bit of chocolate and caramel in the taste, but it’s knocked down to the ground by the big, bitter citrus hop bite. One of the hoppiest barleywines I’ve ever had, I enjoyed it quite a large amount.
