Light orange color with a small white head. The first thing that hits you in the aroma is hops. This is definitely a West Coast IPA. The predominant hop aroma is grapefruit. Taste is slightly fruity with citrus and grapefruit and then the bitterness hits you. The aftertaste is heavy on the grapefruit. This is a very drinkable IPA with no noticeable alcohol. I had never heard of this brewery but will definitely seek out other beers from them after being impressed by this beer.

bottle. light caramel color, clear. vibrant pine needle and citrus nose, minimal caramel malt character, mostly pale, lets the focus just be hops, and they’re well-used. intensely aromatic, crisp, lingering and spicy in the nose and up front on the tongue where a mild to medium malt sweetness is picked up. across the back it’s aggressiveness grows and the bitterness is showcased, while the malt structure is rich and chewy and hefty without really being that dense. fresh, dank and delicious.

Bottle... Poured golden/orange with a wonderful, white head. A bouquet of hops on the nose. Highly carbonated creating a palate that just griped my tongue with a sticky, residual quality that left the hop bitterness there after the finish. Floral, hoppy, mild bitterness and malts with a sweet, pine-like and citrus character.

Fairly good IPA. Pours a hazy amber with about 1mm of head that recedes quickly. Nose is all hops - definitely some cascade hops there. Flavor is a nice dry malt profile with some floral hops going on. Has a nice lingering aftertaste that is bitter and pleasant.

Brilliant and clear amber in color with a thick rocky head. Delightful citrus aroma exudes limes and slight tangerine. Crisp and hoppy flavor - lots of columbus-type hops for that resinous flavor. Beautifully dry. Medium bodied and very quaffable. Overall a very nice IPA. Thanks Derek!

Date: September 21, 2009
Mode: Bottle
Source: Belmont Station, Portland
Appearance: clear amber, frothy beigehead, drippy lace
Aroma: dry pale malt aroma, just a hint of crystal sweetness, nice dose of citrus
Flavor: big hop flavor, good blend of citrus and earthy hops plus a big floral note, plenty of bitterness keeps it pretty dry
Overall: needs more sweetness to pull out the fruityness to go along with the hops, you’ll love this ipa if you like them dry and bitter
Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 8/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 12/20
Rating: 3.1/5.0
Drinkability: 7/10
Score: ** /4

22oz bomber courtesy of writerLJBerg. Pours a bright, slightly hazy golden orange with a massive creamy white head that leaves delicate lacing down the side and hangs on as a cap for ages. The bottom of the head is fed by a crazy amount of bubbles streaming up to the top. The aroma is full of juicy citrus, mainly lemons and oranges, with hints of floral, almost spicy, hops as well. There is a mild toasted bready malt presence as well. The taste doesn’t seem nearly as citrus and has a more muted flavor overall. There is a slightly astringent bitterness that takes on a fairly grassy character with only hints of the citrus that dominated the nose. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and the flavors overall come across fairly thin on the palate. This is a decent IPA, but I was expecting something bigger in the flavor. Either way, I’m definitely looking forward to trying more from this new brewery.

From a 12 bottle this poured a rich brownish orange with a very robust creamy off-white head and thick lacing rings. Powerful nose of floral, citrus, and pine hops. Very smooth and rich mouthfeel, The flavor is bitter and shows lots of the citrus. Long dry bitter finish. Very nice. There is a lot to like here.
