Date: September 21, 2009
Mode: Bottle
Source: Belmont Station, Portland
Appearance: clear amber, frothy beigehead, drippy lace
Aroma: dry pale malt aroma, just a hint of crystal sweetness, nice dose of citrus
Flavor: big hop flavor, good blend of citrus and earthy hops plus a big floral note, plenty of bitterness keeps it pretty dry
Overall: needs more sweetness to pull out the fruityness to go along with the hops, you’ll love this ipa if you like them dry and bitter

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours amber with a three finger frothy whiteish head. Aroma is pretty hoppy. Seems a citrus resin mix. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is hoppy bitter, but rather floral. Maybe they used a lot of different hops. There is a malt backbone, but it just is malt. The hops are the thing. This is really nice stuff.

Draft at Upright’s tasting room, just marked as "Oakshire IPA," so I’m not sure which IPA. Going with the numbers here. This one has an extreme grass aroma and the taste was like standing in a meadow eating lemons. Good stuff.

3fourths (6940) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 29, 2009
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2009 bottle. light caramel color, clear. vibrant pine needle and citrus nose, minimal caramel malt character, mostly pale, lets the focus just be hops, and they’re well-used. intensely aromatic, crisp, lingering and spicy in the nose and up front on the tongue where a mild to medium malt sweetness is picked up. across the back it’s aggressiveness grows and the bitterness is showcased, while the malt structure is rich and chewy and hefty without really being that dense. fresh, dank and delicious.

A: The pour is sort of orange in color with a soapy white head. S: Sort of a soapy aroma with toasted bread and sweet toffee and caramel malts. A bit of citrus and pine hop character with just a very mild herbal note to it. T: Sweet malt all the way with quite a bit of bread, toast, and toffee. There is a fairly minimal hop flavor. Herbs and citrus peel with a little bit more soap and perhaps even some pine sol. M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. O: Soap and floor cleaner are not preferable flavors in any beer.

Bottle @ home. Not sure who sent this one to me in a trade but I’m sure he’s a hell of guy. Thanks man! A touch hazy, dark copper appearance with a creamy, off white head that has good retention. Slightly toasty, pale/caramel malty, light toffee, grapefruit citrusy, light piney aroma. Moderately piney, grapefruit citrus hoppy, toasty pale malty, light caramel flavor with a lingering bitter, dull citrusy aftertaste. Ok.
