2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Inverness Airport. It pours clear copper with a small white head. The nose is toasty, brown sugar, golden syrup and brown bread. The taste is toasty, decent bitterness, leather, wood, digestive biscuits, touch watery, light metallic and peppery notes with a dry finish. Lightish body and high, prickly carbonation. Carbonation is a bit too much of a dominating component of this beer. Ok.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2014 Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a medium sized white head that disappates. Medium bodied, high carbonation. Aroma is a rich malt, of soda bread and fruitcake. Taste is very malty, sweet brown sugar & fruity finish. Good mouthfeel, though high carbonation.

500ml bottle from Aldi. Dark amber ale with malty taste. Sweet toffee aftertaste. Quite nice.
Would go well with crisps or nuts.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted this in Cuan Mor, Oban in June 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Opaque pale copper in colour (a dark ale!) with a thin white head. Soft brown sugar notes present in the sweet malty aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Mixed malts give a strong maltloaf base with toffee notes and syrupy raisins just about holding on. Slight earthy hop prickle present in the aftertaste and combines really well with the malt but does fade away rather fast. Finish is sweet and malty with syrupy dates present in the mouth. This is a traditional 80/ in style and the best ale in my opinion from the short portfolio. Recommended.

Bottle. Bronze although it claims to be a dark ale.Slightly malty with some acidity. Not a lot of flavour and pretty bland. Disappointing.
