At the brewpub. What struck me most is how well all the elements where balanced. Smokey with out being campfire like, hints of booze, oaky with out being too woody. Rich smooth flavor, somewhat chocolatey but not too rich. Serving: tap

Dark brown, essentially black, with a thin light brown head. Oily legs. Big smoky aroma with sweet wood and maple undertones - definitely screams bacon. Flavor is moderately sweet - the light chocolate from the porter breaks through, cutting the smoke a bit. Finish is woody, the smoke battling slightly bitter hops and a mix of dry baker’s chocolate and milk chocolate. Worked very well for me. Well done!
