Pours black with an off-white head. Aroma of citrus, malt, and some pine. Taste of caramel, citrus and a nice bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled at the brewpub. It poured a dark color with an off-white head. The aroma was of sweet malts, chocolate and hops. The taste was a little bitter dark chocolate, coffee, some sort of fruit and hops/burnt malts. Very well done.

Tap - good size tan colored thick head, practically black color, fair sized citrus hop aroma and flavor, very mild roast character, pretty good although would have liked a little more strength in the hops

Sampled at the brewpub. Very dark beer. An aroma of roasted notes, chocolate, coffee, and citrus. In a nutshell that was also the flavor profile. Balance among those was pretty decent and they changed places occasionally. A bit of grass and earth snuck in once in a while. Often this style has black licorice flavors but not this one. This was their most robust beer that I tried. It is nice.

On tap at the brewpub. Comes very dark brown with a small biege head. Aroma of roast, hops, and coffee. Taste is similar. Some alcohol presence. Good.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2012 At the brewpub. Hop heads may be a bit underwhelmed as the hops aren’t exploding all over the place but the hops are still strongly present and balance nicely with the malt. Not overly burnt tasting like some black beers. The strength sneaks up on you. Can’t quite place what stood out other than all around good. I quite enjoyed this. Serving: Tap
