Pours light walnut to copper with a small off-white head that quickly dissipates. Caramel and brown sugar malt aroma with alcohol and plum notes. Sweet and tart plum flavor mingles with yeast and wheat and finishes mildly hoppy. Warm and silky smooth full-bodied palate.

500ml bottle (?, Rome)
Strange vegetable soup aroma. Cloudy, almost muddy, orange, brief head. Fairly watery palate, a bit muddy. Some esters in the retronasals, but a touch chemical too. Not a good hefeweizen.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Towering, thick & dense yellowish head over fully hazy greenish orange beer. Quite neutral nose for a Weizen, first a bit lactic, then finally banana, and, nonetheless, grassy notes. Refermented with bottom yeast? Sweet-sourish flavour with clove, canned pineapple, solvent and sweet-fruity esters; pretty yeast-intoned. Medium bodied, wheat slickness & yeast-filled. Refreshing. Decent Weizen. Germany remains the only country where the big groups manage to turn out decent beer.

Citrus avidity rooted in yeasty battery acidity...Reluctant wheat sprinkled on precipitous chalk flakes...Strange arrangements, where the pleasurable meets the tolerable...

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Murky yellow with a thick white head that dissipated quickly. Vinous aroma. Tart alcohol/wheat flavor that made me take this one more slowly than I would have liked. Again, the bottle-conditioned element just doesn’t cut it for me. This may be a good example of the style, I just don’t like the style.

Bottle. NIce wheat and banana aroma. Light orange-yellow color with decent head. Sweet banana and wheat flavor. Full bodied. The picture shown is for the dunkelweizen - the Hefeweizen comes with a purple colored label. Has been one of the more consistently good Weizen in my experience

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pale golden beer with a big white head. Yeast and wheat aroma. Citrus, yeast, wheat flavors and a slightly sour tang at first. Medium body. I just wish it has some spice elements. I couldn’t find them here and it made for a more boring beer.
