A truly natural kvass produced by live fermentation. It is made according to classical technique where the production process starts from barley and rye malting. Only natural ingredients are used for kvass production. These are crystal clear water, barley and rye malt, yeast and sugar. Kvass by Obolon has a pleasant sweet-sour taste and rye bread flavor. This beverage positively affects digestion, improves general metabolism and functioning of the cardiovascular system. kvass is a perfect refreshing drink during the summer heat and contains useful vitamins and microelements.

At a tasting, thanks, no head, clear dark brown color, like a cola, dominant aroma of dark bread, flavor of dark bread, caramel and dried fruits, light soueneaa but still much too sweet, hard to drink.

Plastic bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Deep amber-brown. Pretty nice aroma of caramel, nuts, chocolate, citric note. Sweet flavor with caramel, nuts, a bit of chocolate, and mild citric acidity. A bit too sweet, but quite alright. Nose is pretty rich for a kvass.

Can, an amber beer with low hread. Aroma is on sweet caramel and grapes with a sourish background, no hops and low malt, strange stuff, Very sour at the finish.

Pours dark drown clear with reddish hue. looks like a Dunkel Beer. Head is flat, carbonation sink within a second Aroma is dark bread, little sweet maltiness. Palate is thin , flat to medium carbonated and light. Taste is malty, with sourish, citric taste mixed with bread sour flavors. Overall It is refreshing drink, similar to Coke or Pepsi but has more character due to bread fermentation. Unfortunately this mass Kvas is too sweet, due to sugar added. The original Kvas has the sourness but not the synthetic sugars. It is OK to drink, but not comparable to real handicraft Kvas making. Good alternative to your Cola or Pepsi.

Bottle. Pours fizzy dark brown with no head. Clear, non-aggressive aroma of rye bread. Richly carbonated. Bready with sourish finish. Not bad for a mass market kvass.

Plastic bottle. Roasted aroma. Clear brown colour, fizzy with no head. Looks like cola. The flavour is also roasted. Very sweet with some citric acid. Late roasted flavour, burnt caramel, molasses.

2l bottle from a local Russian supermarket. Dark brown, fizzy head, sweet-sour aroma. Sweet base with a quite sour balance, grainy, roast flavour.

1 liter plastic bottle. It pours a clear cola brown with no head. It smells like rye bread, fruit, and chocolate. It has a low carbonation. It is tangy, with some caramel, rye, and sugar. Not one of my favorites. I guess I should stop messing with kvasses now.
