Nolo (17), California, USA Jan 2, 2004 Updated: Sep 16, 2004A really nice Ukrainian beer, which comes close to many top notch European beers. Comes close to the other Ukrainian beer, Slavutych. A good example of European lager. Dry and bitter. Finish is nice. Hard to find in the U.S., due to dicriminatory practices on the goods imported from Ukraine, and virtually no marketing. used to be number one until people lost their minds and turned to coors and other US beers churned for the MacDonald’s masses. Unliike the czech varieties however, the bitterness in this beer is exquisite. (Of course people raised on ding dongs would think it too bitter.) It’s a wheat beer, aged without the artificial chemicals used by NA brewers (Labatts nearly killed my lymphatic system), light in color and taste. Fantastic with a meal - does not detract from the palate at all. I love it, my scottish wife declared it her favorite over all others. pnaimport99 (7), North Hollywood, California, USA does not count Sep 25, 2002 Tolik99 (47), USA Dec 15, 2002 One of my Ukrainian favorites: almost pilsnerurquell-ish hop aroma, nice dark amber color, very refreshing. This relates to draught beer: canned and bottled ones unfortunately have nothing common with it. Boystout (824), Chisinau, Moldova Mar 2, 2003 After trying rather boring bottled and canned versions I finally tasted the draught one, which turned to be a real classic pils: ideal foamy head, golden color, malty palate with hoppy dry aftertaste.
