2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Aurelius (3457) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 3, 2005
Toasted malt, slightly skunky hop aroma. A decent embossed label, green bottle, generic gold lager. Slightly metallic, maybe a bit briny, grain sweetness, a bit of burnt malt. A lingering grain bitterness, medium bodied. Not worth shipping overseas, but it grows on you as you get closer to the bottom of the pint. Wouldn’t want to drink it warm though.
1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 6, 2005
"High Quality Ukrainian Beer" is the proud claim on the label, and below the logo, "Exclusive"...huh? Okay, so only Obolon makes a Magnat? that’s if we ignore Poland’s Dojidy Magnat, but why would we ever do that? Let’s drink the thing and see how quality and exclusive it is...
Bright golden color, small, thin, quickly diminished head....
Aroma: blase’. comprised of the flavors of cooked corn and nothing more. Blandness, meets awfulness...boring, and not exactly bad, but achingly icky.
Taste: ih...uh...huh...heh...a big bunch of nothing. grainy, and empty. You can drink this, sure, but if you have taste, you’d be easily bored, if not immensely offended. Very light body, little finish, not anything you want sticking on your palate, that’s for sure. Not a substantial beer, and not really a pleasurable beverage at all. The Ukrainian Miller High Life. There you go.
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 omhper (17561) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 27, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2005 Bottled. Golden colour. Sweet and raw with harsh, fizzy mouthfeel. Adjuncts are obvious, an after a few sips the butyric acid is getting near unbearable. Crap.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Kinz (3023) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - JAN 9, 2005
As Eastern European lagers go, this could have been a lot worse. Fizzy gold, head faded away rapidly. Very grainy nose. Flavor consisted of grainy but sweet malts, and a faint but definite floral and grassy finish. Rough palate from carbonation. Not good, but not horrible.

(ojn bottle) Actually the label reads: "light beer". A light with 5.3%? Guess that´s how Ukraine has kept the last dictatorship in Europe; keep ´em on "light beer".
Smells of rotten grass and has a bitter/sweet feeling. It´s nice and well-carbonated, still some gassy feeling.
