6,8 ABV on bottle. Amber colour. Aroma of grain and tremendous amount of alcohol. Sweet taste. Light to medium body. Watery finish. The beer that exists in vain.

Bottle. As Obolon Strong. Clear straw color with a white head. Aroma of cereal graininess, some hay notes and an alcoholic touch. Sweet grainy flavor, somewhat alcoholic, with a sugary note and a papery hint. Quite light-bodied. Ugh.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml from Pak n Save Sylvia Park, Auckland. Pours clear orange yellow with moderate carbonation. Decent white head that fades quickly telling me to drink this quickly. Aroma of malt, slightly sweet and metallic but the one that comes through for me the most is a bubblegum aroma. Okay. Unusual taste. The alcohol, the heavy taste which isn’t what’s expected from what it looks like. Medium bodied amd well balanced.Warms the chest like I have just taken a shot. Quite a nice experience for my first Ukranian beer.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Effective, businesslike E.Eur strong lager (not terribly adjunct-y, wouldn’t put this in the ML category). Not the head-pounding sledgehammer of pre-Orange Revolution days (and 7.4 abv), this one is more subtle, more caramelly, and more toned-down, but still strong enough to ensure the desired effect among the target population (those willing to pony up the extra hryvnia over Desant) without too much non-malt unpleasantness
