3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
You can smell the lightness of the malts, they were dark but not used heavily, just for the colour and to make up the %. Not enough head or lacing, it’s dark but not black. A slight burntness to the taste, just ahint of malty sugar and % and then if fades away leaving sweet dark malts on your toung. Pretty nice, fades out smooth.

Barva středně hnědá, pěna světle žlutá, husá. Vůně: výrazná sladová s lehkým nádechem ovoce. Chuť chmelová se sladovým dozvukem. Slušné tmavé pivo.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not bad, though aroma is of steam sauna and little else....the beer itself is quite straightforwardly sweet malt, with some hints of hops and sourness on the finish. Too watery to be called "velvet," for sure, but an interesting change from the light lagers, and definitely drinkable.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Haven’t rated anything in a while. Found a great eastern european market in town which carries a bunch of (mostly eastern european) imports. A lot of them are pretty cruddy macros equivalent in every way to American macros, so I’ll not waste my time rating those, but this one certainly stood out. Not least for it’s name: "Velvet" Sexy. Mostly smoked malts, a little bitterness leaning towards a sour cherry taste. One of the better lagers that I’ve had lately. Head was quick fading chunky tan. Body was deep reddish brown. I’m finding that the darker the beer in eastern europe, at least among exports, the better it will be.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark red brown pour quickly dissipating head. Smells of buckwheat, soy sauce and leather. Tastes overpoweringly of sweet grains. Fades to soy sauce and raisins. Palate ends up drying off the sweetness a little but it doesn’t do enough also is over carbed. It does also resemble malta goya a bit too much and would benefit from a little more hop flavor.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 14, 2009 500 ml. Surprisingly, the aroma is sweeter than the first taste. Pours a deep ruby color with a nice cream colored head. The initial aroma was very much Belgian, but the taste was not as fruity as the aroma said it would be. It also doesn’t seem to have as much body as the colors hint at. But still, not a bad beer.
