Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of malts, grains, light bitter hops, light straw. Light bitter flavour, sweet malts. Sweet malty finish.
(From 0.5L bottle @ home. Different bottle, blue en yellow, 4.3% ABV, but indeed brewed for Monolith. Seems like I had a bottle looking the same as the one of 77ships.

500 ml bottle – different & prettier label in the Ukranian colours. Mine is called Zhigulevskoe and specifies blond beer which is translated as Helles in German, sort of similar thing, the original implies this being a pale lager, a step below I would say. 4.3 % ABV. Distributed by Monolith Group which is responsible for the majority of eastern European goods you see of here in ‘Russian’ shops – picked this one up in such a shop. Pours a bright golden, fizzy bubbles running through it, creamy additives, milky head on top. Nose very heavy on the additives, crazily metallic, iron, sharp grains, corn, quite industrial. Taste is all the way metallic in huge quantities with some corn sweetness, grains, quite bitter in grass / pale lager hop extract and iron kin of way, sweet with cornflakes and white sugar, industrial strength. Fizzy, light almost touch oily because of added syrup. Quite terrible, don’t quite remember the standard Obolon offering being this bad. Seems to have won quite a few prizes, never a good sign when they mention that on the bottle.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Pours in amber with low head. Small malt in the aroma. Very sweetish due to its added syrup. OK, but tasteful and drinkable.

Clear amber colour, with creamy and low head. Nose of low malt. Taste of mild hops, sugar, low malt and red apples. Little downpoint because of its added syrup.

0,5l bottle Label: Zhigulevskoe pivo svetloe (in Cyrillic). Hergestellt für: Monolith Mitte, 4,2 ABV. Pours copper amber color body clear, with lacing white head. Aroma, sweet papery malts, some licorice. Palate is watery, carbonation medium light. Taste is malty, sweet, watery with some vaguq hops. NO bitterness. Taste more like Münchener malty Helles beers. Drinkable but quite dull.

Dull bronze. Aroma of wet hay, taste of not much. Quite watery, again with wet grains. Pretty inoffensive for a zhigulivske.

(bottle) pours a slightly hazy deep amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of cardboard, lightly roasted pale malts and caramel, with a hint of butter and lactic acid. flavour is cooked vegetables, caramel, rotten fruit and buttered corn, with additional notes of cardboard. thin body with average carbonation.

Bottle kiev train station. Out of bottle lets assume a dull lifeless gold with measly to no head flat limp lifeless looking beer shall we? The initial aroma is just a little sour, nothing really offensive and no overt diacetyl. The body is loose and the palate is not as oily as expected, just a little green apple in the finish, is actually pretty clean. Not really true to the zhguli spirit except for the low abv. Its not oily buttery, etc and not bad overall esp for Obolon
