A brown porter that’d be a great beer on its own is even better with a subtle toasted coconut character that complements the dark grains wonderfully. A complex and exotic potion that’s an easy drinking, refreshing tropical elixir.

Bottle from Liz. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aromas of chocolate and smooth burnt malt. Med body. Flavor is weak chocolate with burnt malt, and a certain slickness that might be coconut fat. Sort of lacking in ingredients, but certainly drinkable.

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2010 Draft… 4th Annual Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival… Clear, deep, burnt amber brew with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma presents mild roastiness alongside caramel and a restrained toasted coconut nuance – more coconut, please? Medium-bodied with a mostly thin mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Full of nutty, toasty sweetness and a whisper of acidity. Dry, grassy finish.

Draft @ FBGBF ’10. Pours dark brown, tan head. Aroma, light roast with mostly mild coconut aroma and some touch of chocolate. Flavor, nice lingering toasted mouthfeel with a light touch of coconut that seems a little on the light side. Mild muted hops not hampering the overall coconut and roasted aspect. Carbonation was a tad too high. Finish is nice, roasted, chocolate and coconut. Definitely a nice change from the other OBP beers.
