COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is Occidental’s homage to the delicious ale of Cologne, Germany. Crisp and dry, it is clean and lager-like, with a pleasant, slightly spicy hop profile supplied by German Perle. Very "sessionable."

Very attractive plain yellow "old style" 16oz can from Lifesource, Salem. $2.49 Pours a crystal clear pure yellow with a huge billowy white head. Aroma of honey, malt and slight grassy hop..very nice. Taste is basically the same as the aroma..honey,caramel malt, grassy hop and slightly medicinal as is normal for style. Nice creamy smooth drinkable palate.\ Very nice trad kolsch here.

Can from Baileys Taproom. Colour...hazy gold with a thick head. Nose...quite husky and filled with dried alfalfa and lemon curd. Palate...plenty of carbonation and a very husky and somewhat musky flavour (in a good way). Seasoned hay predominates as well as crested wheat grass, though there’s a yeasty aspect too and a somewhat soapy feel though it does not taste soapy. At 4.4% this was very enjoyable today as it is presently 86 degrees and climbing at my house in Portland!

On draught at Occidental. Crystal clear and golden. Light floral aroma. Tastes crisp, biscuity, malty, and just slightly sweet. Really refreshing. Quite possibly the best kölsch I have had.

Tap at the brewery. Closest to real Kölsch outside Germany I’ve had. By far better than any other US counterpart. Round 60F. Clear, lively carbonation, solid foam that quickly disappears while drinking, crystal clear, golden towards slightly dark-gold. Nearly aroma free except for a light hop character. Taste is lightly kilned malts. Hop flavor is present but restrained. Lively carbonated, light bodied, quaffable. Brings back memories of Köln. Should be served endlessly. Very very good.
