Draft at Stockholm Beer Festival 2008. A pitch black with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt combined with notes of fruit, wood, and prunes. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and lovely fruits as well as lighter notes of wood and prunes, leading to a dry bitter finish.

Draught at SBWF08. Pours out in an almost black colour with a low tan foam. Salty aroma with notes of licorice and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with notes of dark chocolate, licorice, leather, black pepper, black coffee and smoked herring. Long salty finish with notes of dark chocolate and leather.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2008) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with distinct notes of freshly ground coffee. Roasted, malty taste with coffee, blueberries, dark chocolate, lots of liquorice and a rather harsh, citrussy bitterness in a nicely balanced finish. Balanced sweetness, more than medium body, alcohol very well hidden. Excellent beer.

Cask at EBF. Black - white edges. English licorice, dryness, berries, sweetness, chocolate, light lactic, light hoppy. Nice mouthfull

<i>Draught at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. </i> Very black. no head. Aroma of milk chocolate and tar. Sweet and dense with clean rounded mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied with notes of perfume, sugar and alcohol to go with the licorice and chocolate. Tarry salty finish with a bit of burning sweetness.

Quite nutty and roasty coffee aroma with a touch of sherry. Opaque black with a nice lacy top. Tangy roast with some sherry and very toasty. Toasted almonds. Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter finish.

Pitch black, thick tan head, lace. Roasted malts, chocolate and a bit menthol in the nose. Toasted malty, some cocoa, hints of alcohol. Good "basic" strong porter.

Keg, 9.0% at EBF08. Good creamy and liquorice aroma. Sweetish flavour, good liquorice, hint of smoke and cream. Black colour, very small light brown head.
