Jet black, tan ring. Fruity aroma as well as coffee. Crisp carbonation. Full palate. Almost acidic burntness, just short of ashiness, and not boozy for 9%. However, a bit over the top in places and lacking in subtlety.

Draft at Bishops Arms, Järntorget in Gothenburg. Nice porter with chocolate palate and light hoppy finish. Overall pretty moderate porter but absolutely one of the best products from Oceanbryggeriet. Unfornutaly served with no foam.

On tap at Bishop’s Arms Järntorget, Göteborg. ABV was 9.0%. Served in "brandy" snifter. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Pleasant roasty aroma with notes of coffee, liquorice, chocolate and prunes. The flavour is distinctly roasty and moderately sweet with a certain warmth from the alcohol, notes of chocolate, port wine and prunes. Excellent beer!

sample at the brewery, of the tank. Shared with Gnoff. One fresh from the tank, and a 14 months old bottle. pours black with lasting mocha head and a frothy nice golden lacing. Aroma had plenty of chocolate malts. Taste, some light liquorice, dark malts giv this puppy an enormous roasted, chocolate palate with some faint coffee. Light hops. **14 months old bottle; a little milder, with dark fruits/ caramel being more upfront and the chocolate/malts in the background. Definitely my favourite by Ocean.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2009 On tap at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg. Very dark colored, almost black, with a small brown head. Light aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste of chocolate and coffee. A round taste, maybe a bit to watery. Overall a good beer.

On tap at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg. Pours a black color with a nice lightbrown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Flavour is lightly sweet, there’s roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and some light smokiness. Mediumbodied mouthfeel (a bit thin for the style maybe), but overall nicely smooth. Best beer I’ve tried from Ocean - definitely a good one!

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2008. Black color with small head. Coffee, licorice, leather, and charcoal in the aroma. Thick and chewy palate with flavors of licorice, coffee, charcoal. Sweetish, like a tropical stout. Very fresh. I wish this had more bitterness.
