4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From tap. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing tan head. Aroma is dense liqourice and roastedmalt aroma with a mild acidic touch. Sweet initial flavoured with distinct berry fruity base flavour slowly showing some acidity and annis seed. Lingering liqourice and mild herbal touch into the far finish. Nice one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Bishops Arms Järntorget, Gothenburg. A clear-looking black beer with a small, dark tan head leaving some pretty lacings. Sugary nose with licorice and some alcohol, as well as burnt malt and some dried fruits. Sugary sweet flavor with some smoke and licorice, burnt malt and dried fruits. Touch of alcohol too. Oily mouthfeel, yet it feels a bit thin. Lasting, sweet finish with burnt malt, coffee and some licorice. Sure a nice porter, but a bit on the sweet side I think, and it lacks a bit on the body. 3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Thin creamy brown head with blotches in lighter hues. Opaque black body. Rich chocolatey mealy aroma with hoppy roasty notes and some alcohol and coffee. Dry-sweet resiny chocolatey taste with some sweetness and alcoholic coffee notes. Quite a bit of bubblegum, too. Dry roasty chocolate aftertaste. A pretty good beer, but loses on the alcohol and bubblegum. They changed the keg while giving me this, so it could be an issue with that. Should rerate. (0.3l draft at Bishop’s Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg.)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Draught) Pours black with a brown head. The aroma is of dark bread, syrup, dark chocolate, coffee, some liquorice and light dark fruit sweetness. Undertones of blackberries, rubber, cookie like toast and some oranges and black currant notes, probably from some English hops. As the beer is getting warmer, it becomes fruitier and a bit vinous. The flavour is medium roasted, tiny burned and tar bitter, bit cookie-ish, light caramelly, dark chocolaty, light coffee, some subtle dark fruitiness and hints of orangey/black currant like hops. The mouthfeel is a bit syrupy and rather chewy with some sour notes both from the malt and hops. Hoppy and light burned aftertaste. Medium bodied

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught. Black colour wih a dark beige head. Aroma is roasted coffee beans and malts. Flavour is roasted and rather tart with some sweetness. Roasted coffee beans and malts a some smoke. You don’t feel the alcohol. Not the biggest body. The finish is roasted notes together with a nice bitterness. This was quite nice - a bit too tart IMO though...

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 28, 2008 Draught at the Bishops Arms, Järntorget Gothenburg. Impressive looking, with almost black appeareance and creamy off-white head. Subtle smells of coffee and milk, with suggestion of cherries? A bit of smoke and tar in the flavour. Sweet upfront with a mildly burnt, slightly spiritous finish. Thick mouthfeel. Good porter, but don’t know if you could work after a few of these!
