Ungstrup (11692), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 16, 2008 Draft. An amber with huge light tan head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of flowers, grass, and cow manure as well as hints of smoke. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as notes smoke, rope, and cow manure, leading to a dry smokey and manure finish.
Jonte (458), Gothenburg, Sweden Nov 29, 2008 On-tap. A smokey version of the regular Ocean IPA. Notes of smoke, peat, horse, manure, citrus and caramel. An interesting mistake, but not very drinkable. I prefer the standard IPA from Ocean. Papsoe (11030), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 30, 2008 (On tap) Clear deep golden with an off-white head. Weird smoke aroma that mostly reminds me of fresh cow manure. Medium body - or almost watery - with light malty accents. Some bitterness. Unpleasant and unbalanced. 130908 Hansen (1828), Randers, Denmark Oct 25, 2008 Medium amber colour and clear. Has an off-white head, fully lasting. Aroma of smoke, malt, grain and yeast. Flavor is lightly sweet. Mildly smoked. asheft (1017), Marburg, Germany Oct 5, 2008 [on tap at EBF 2008]
Burnt rubber, hockey puck aroma with some peat. Clear orange with a lacy thin cover. Horseblankety burnt rubber hockey puck flavour with some peat--seems like they’ve mixed peat and wood smoke and it didn’t work. Quite bitter, but not unbalanced. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter finish.
