COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Translated from Russian:
Ochakovskiy Kvas has long ago won the love of the consumers and it has become the standard of this Russian bevarage. In the summer of 2004 "Ochakovsiy Kvas" has changed the look of its packaging, now it's filled into bottles that resemble kvas kegs. Furthermore, for the first time it has been released in aluminum cans - this is Ochakovo know-how. Kvas "Ochakovskiy" can also be tried in the bars and cafés, where it's found in kegs.

Dark brown colour, almost no head. Malty aroma, light mocha, roasted malts, caramel and sugar. Quite sweet flavour, malty. Malty finish, sweet caramel.
Nice commercial kvas. I do like квас a lot, but have no idea why it can be rated here, as it is basically a Russian soft drink . Come to think of it, a lot of Russians also consider beer to be a soft drink, so I guess it does make sense after all.

1.5l bottle. Clear brown colour, tiny head. Malty nose. Very malty, slightly fruity, refreshing and light.

Originally reviewed: 4/4/11. Pours a deep garnet-tinged cola color with a small sheet of beige lace on top. Left with just a ring around the edge. No lace left behind. The nose is explosively-full of licorice and molasses. Powerful stuff. I can’t say I dig it. The mouth is a little flat, it’s like hours-old Coke. Light carbonation on the tongue. This beer is sickeningly-sweet! Dark sweet tea, sugar, red licorice, syrup, and sugar. My teeth hurt after drinking this. Still, I wanted to give this rare style a try, and I can now say I have. Most likely won’t be revisiting this one anytime soon. Would make a great "wager" beer for my guys’ billiards night...

Bottle at DRBM. This stuff is sweet malty cola juice. Some hint of coffee. Yuck.

2 liter bottle shared with a bunch of people. This kvass is real butter with butterscotch notes, a hint of coffee, and slight fruit. Actually moe complex than the rest but the buttery flavor isn’t my style.

Sampled @ RBBWG Antwerpen. Courtesy of 77ships. Dark brown color with a nice red glow coming through. No head. Smells weird: some malts and horseblanket. Taste sweetness and also something weird. Low body, low carbonation.

14/I/2012 1.5L bottle @ RBBWG 2012 - BB: 22/XI/11 (2012-53) Thanks to 77ships for bringing the bottle!

Clear dark brown "beer", no head. Aroma: very malty, like Ovomaltine, bready, grains, yeast, toast, roasted nuts. MF: low carbon, light to medium body. Taste: sweet start, not cloying though, malty, caramel, bit of milk chocolate, little sour, fruity. Aftertaste: bit of grape juice. One of the weirdest things of the whole gathering, glad I got to try it, though!

2L bottle. Dark brown with a minimal head. Raisins and rye in the aroma. Typical taste of malt, raisins and rye. However, the aftertaste is nice and nutty which leaves you wanting for more. Most botteled kvass drinks that I have tasted have thinner and more sour finish.

Bottle@Home. Rye bread aroma. Dark brown, beige head, fair lace. Very sweet, not bitterness, rye, molasses. Sticky. I’d certainly go for this instead of a cola.
