Named after the nautical term for the red buoy that helps guide ships back to port, the Red Nun Red Ale is our interpretation of an Irish Red Ale. It has a robust malt backbone with a kiss of hops to create balance within the profile. "Red. Right. Return to local beer" ~ 5.5% ABV 35 IBUs

Malty aroma with a bit of mold and brown sugar. Auburn, with a medium yellow head, decent lacing. Tastes like it smells, with a trace of DMS.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a small foamy tan head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was vegetal, sweetish and had a bit of tropical fruit. The flavor was bitter and vegetal with toffee, tropical fruit and an astringent presence. Medium length finish. Medium body and a bit undercarbonated. Meh.

Mild virtually non existent aroma just a hint of malt. Reddish copper colored, with virtually no head. A dry feel with mildly bitter indistinctive taste with a chalky metallic finish.

Very unimpressed with this local brew. Flavor is a bit skunky and the aftertaste is weak and watery.

12oz bottle pours a clear, copper amber with a thin topping of white head. Aroma is fine, some stone fruit, a little lemon, some malt, a bit of caramelized sugar, proofing dough. Flavor is malt, cracker, some carrot, unripened plum, mild orange. Clean finish. Perfectly standard.

Poured from a tap into glass. Reddish orange color, slight head. Doe yeast and musky. A buttery concoction of terribleness.

On tap at Tautog's restaurant in Virginia Beach, VA. Clear, reddish copper with an off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, biscuit and grassy/herbal hops. Taste of toffee, a little brown sugar, some sweet dark fruit and a touch of grassy/herbal hops. Medium body and medium/low carbonization. Other than visually, this beer bears little resemblance to an Irish red ale. It reminds me a lot of a Leffe Brune, although not nearly as good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
