Ughsmash (2612), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 22, 2005 Bottled. Poured a medium golden with a light layer of whitish head. Aroma was of rye and other cereal-type malts, along with some berries and light fruits. Flavor had a nice light-medium sweet caramel backbone, and floral hops, berries, and rye to back it up. Very crisp on the palate, and the cereal malts lasted a decent while on the slightly-sticky finish. I don’t know how old this is, but it was quite a treat! JoeM500 (1878), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2004 Picked up in the clearance section of Discount Liq. in Milwaukee: Brown with a lively head. Nose has some rye, but mostly caramel there with little hop aroma to speak of. Smooth and rich, surprisingly malty, chewy. Rye was more pronounced in the taste, all the way through the finish. Decent! jaymobrown (1281), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 30, 2004 Funky. Really thick cereal, wheat, malt flavors. Not overpowering, but something to chew on. Lingering on the palate. Tasted really unprocessed. Earthy. Good. muzzlehatch (4405), Richmond, Vermont, USA Jul 21, 2004 12 oz bottle. Dark amber, quite hazy, full of small yeasty bits, obviously unfiltered. Grainy nose, rye evident along with some rough buckwheat honey and molasses...really nice. Earthy, sweet, a bit smoky, rye flavor present throughout, fairly smooth but with some distinct acidic and biting qualities. This is really nice, I wish I’d found more from this unknown little Wisconsin brewer. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 21, 2004 Small white head with a dirty gold color. Grainy bread with hints of sweetness that seems almost pastry-like at times. A bit different, but not bad. Sweet caramel bread taste. Overall, a lot better than I expected. A good drink.
