Tasted in line at dld2016. Pours a clearish golden yellow. Thatís about all the good I can say. Literally tastes like old beer and vomit. Quite gross.

superspak (4406) - Michigan, USA - MAR 20, 2016
12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 1/25/2016. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy dark ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, pear, melon, apple, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, vanilla, oak, light bourbon, and oak/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, bourbon/cognac barrel, and citrus/pine hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, pear, melon, apple, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, vanilla, oak, light bourbon, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine bitterness and oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, pear, melon, apple, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, vanilla, oak, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, bourbon/cognac barrel, and citrus/pine hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness that increases through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and fairly slick/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged American barleywine style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, bourbon/cognac barrel, and citrus/pine hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. This is definitely more dominated by fruity cognac than bourbon barrel presence; but I really liked it for that unique factor as well. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Brandon. Nose is moderate booziness. Light caramel. Pour is murky red with small head. Taste follows with a lot of caramel and always finishes with alcohol warning in the chest. Ok.

Mr_Abner (322) - Michigan, USA - MAR 14, 2016
Bottle. Pours a murky brown color with a small, dirty cream-colored head. Aromas of barrel, vanilla, some sweetness, slight alcohol. No real bourbon aromas, but some cognac barrel is noticeable (sweeter). Taste has a moderate sweetness with an assertive bitterness that quickly takes over and lingers. Average carbonation; medium+ to full bodied; a bit oily. Long, bitter, and drying finish.

chucklemation (1254) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - MAR 4, 2016
Pours a brown color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, dark fruits, wood, and vanilla. Flavor is subtle wood, vanilla, caramel. Has a thick, syrupy body, and a light bitterness. Not sweet, but hides the alcohol very well. An enjoyable sipper.

This beer is a lot like the male lead in a chick flick. Sweet, powerful, intense, but a little bitter...

Pretty good barely wine. Itís a little creamy which is good but also kinda weird. Iím assuming itís from the cognac. Very malty!

A nice rustic dark color. Thick head with long retention. A smooth boozy nose with dark fruits. Nice carbonation. Apple skin and dark fruit in the flavors. Sweet and boozy taste. Definite sipper. Now I want more to age.
