On tap at HopCat, Grand Rapids, MI. Not a fan of this one. Deep amber and clear, that’s nice. Sweet pineapple aroma, that’s nice. Then the taste really lets you down. Seems like the pineapple is replacing the hops in this one, rather than complimenting them. Tastes weak and watery, and has a weird aftertaste my wife and I just couldn’t put our fingers on (maybe it was stale hops?). No bitterness at all. A disappointment.

Draft at HopCat, Grand Rapids. Slightly hazy medium orange-brown body, thin creamy off-white head. Light nose with pineapple and citrus. Light, hoppy body, mostly citrusy, bitter hops with modest pineapple. Lingering bitter finish with a long citrus rind aftertaste. The pineapple was a nice touch to a basic IPA.

On tap at the Clarkston Union...a nice spin on the usual citrus of an IPA. I would say that this was on the sweeter and less hoppy side for an IPA, but I enjoyed it and will seek out more.

On tap at The Shark Club. Poured a hazy golden color with a small sized head. More pineapple in the aromas than the tastes, but not much there. Citrus and rinds. Sweeter than bitter.

Draft sample. Poured clear orange copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy fruit and sour citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium duration. Very good brew.

Reviewed from notes. Thanks to my dad for bringing this one down for me to try. Served in a wine glass. Pours an apricot-gold color with a good white head and some nice lacing as it goes down. The nose brings forward some nice citrus hops plus a bit of a floral component. Nice pineapple in the background. Not too much malt to speak of. Flavor is light pineapple plus some orange and citrus. Medium body with good carbonation and a semi-dry finish. Very good brew.

On tap at the Odd Side brewpub. Light peach colored with a thin off-wihie head. Aroma of pineapple, citrus and sweet malt. Taste is sharp, strong and bitter with some pineapple and undefined hops. Citrus and sweet malt are also in there.

On tap at Odd Side Ales in Grand Haven, MI. If this beer was any indication, this small brewery is on its way to do some great stuff. It might be listed as a fruit beer here on RB, but in my opinion, it really is an ipa with a touch of pineapple to add some uniqueness. What results, is a nicely hopped, well balanced ipa, with some pleasant fruity notes. It came poured with a fairly basic appearance, a small, light white head, and deep burnt orange in body. Aroma is hazy, with pineapple and mellow tropical citrus fruit standing out. Also, melons, berries, esters, toffee, and cereal grains. I love the bitter in the feel of this. Deep and sharp, though mellowed out with the fruity tartness. Highly drinkable. Mixed tropical citrus and creamy pineapple in the body as predicted by the nose. Estery melons, caramel, cereal grains, and bitter citrus. Overall, this one worked very for me. I’m very interested to see how this place grows in the future.

On tap; pour is fairly clear medium gold with a hint of amber. The pour looks terrific in this glass; retention is heavy; a fine bubbled white head is present, which heavily coats the glass. fresh cut pineapple, pine, and caramel on the nose. The flavor profile is biscuits, pine, fresh cut pineapple, cream (from the head), and caramel. Its fairly bitter, and a little sweet overall. Its an IPA with a typical citrus note. Not a fruit beer (in my book)
