   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 12/20
ineedbeer (1215) - Oakland, California, USA - JUL 19, 2015
Poured from a bottle dated 06/17/2015. Aroma is moderately malty with some toasted bread, caramel and lighter cracker notes. Some medium light tropical fruit and stone fruit hop notes with one light citrus. Some light alcohol spice. Pours a cloudy, copper red with a small, moderately thick, slightly off white head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers. Medium lacing with longish legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with some light raisin, caramel, toasted bread and cracker malt notes. Medium high bitterness with moderate hop notes. Some tropical and stone fruit with medium light citrus and a bit of pine resin. Light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, this is an insult to call this a West Coast style anything. The malt profile is way too strong with too much sweetness. It doesn’t finish very dry. The bitterness is not as strong as it could be and last, but most important, the hop profile is almost non existent and this is a fresh bottle. This is really disappointing for a "West Coast Style Double IPA."

Bottle into ipa glass. Pours a murky amber color with a thick sticky white laying head. Aromas of pine, caramel, slight lemon. Pine is super dominate. Mouth is thick, syrupy and overly sweet, semi bitter finish.

12oz bottle, purchased from the Woodstock Wine & Cheese, I believe. Enjoyed towards the tail end of the day. Clear amber color. Thin off-white head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, light bitter. Date appears to read: 09/18/14. So yeah, I realize now that this may be a little older. Not awful though. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Lots of caramel malt, kind of toasty. Mild herbal. Bigger sweet taste, very light bitter.. Not enough bitter. Ehh... OK bready sweet American malt. Not good overall, but nice to try. Just drinking malty and sweet right now.

Tap. Clear dark straw. Lingering milimeter of head. Really gorgeously citrus nose. Great citrus, floral ddy hopping. ABV a bit present. Not too "dank" ;)

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a clear orange with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong malt and citrus. Medium mouth, caramel malt, pine, light bitterness, decent.

Poured a light orange color with a white head. Aroma was of oxidized hops, caramel malt and booze. Flavor was actually better than aroma, still too sweet and boozy but at least the bitterness is tones down.

12oz bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. Pours copper. Transparent. Small white rim if head. Aroma is heavy on hops, though it’s hard to pick any one aroma. A little musty. Some alcohol. Taste is mostly sweet. Some bitterness. Body is strong. Longer finish.

12 oz bottle. Sort of an amber color. Slightly hoppy, but not in any imperial way. Malty. Overly malty. Probably the appropriate amount for 10%, but the hops don’t match. Especially for something called el dankerino.

It does however have an awesome name, label, lebkwski reference. For intangible awesomeness, I give it a 5/5.
